Can’t Sell Your Home? Then Make It Better.
by Michael Buckner- President Audio Intersection
We all know what the current economy has done to the idea of moving into your next dream home. This month I want to talk to you about investing more money into your home so you can, not only get more enjoyment from your existing home, but save money on your electricity bill and do your part in reducing harmful carbon emissions. It’s all being brought to you by the wonderful world of Home Automation.
Ever have your hands full of groceries when entering your house from the garage only to have your security system start beeping at you? Next thing you know you have to run to the kitchen, set everything down, run back to the keypad, enter the code, then turn on the proper lights, etc. This task can be even more fun when you’re dodging around your kids to do all this. Well it doesn’t have to be this way.
Instead, imagine this: You enter your driveway and press the button that opens your garage door. This one button opens the door, turns off your security system, lights the path from the garage to say, your bedroom closet, then changes the thermostat to your desired temperature, and puts your favorite music on the stereo. It’s still daylight out, you say? Well then only the lights that are in the darker rooms will turn on. Conversely, imagine leaving and all you would have to do is press the close button on your garage door button to turn off your TV or stereo along with all the lights, change your thermostat to a more efficient temperature, arm your security system, and close your garage door. You may prefer for it to turn the porch lights on, but only after it gets dark, hours after you’ve left. That’s fine too.
This may sound like something from the future, but it’s here today and it’s affordable! It can be added to an existing home, or it can be installed at the time of new construction. Even better that this is that over time, adding these features to your home will help to lower your utility bills AND increase the level of enjoyment.
Other examples of this wonderful technology are being able to look at your house from any internet connection in the world, locking and unlocking your doors from anywhere (for that trusted repairman), or simply having the lights in your living room dim when you switch from watching CNN to watching HBO.
I’ll leave you with one last scenario. Imagine watching a movie in your living room that’s not over at bedtime. All you have to do is press pause, then go get ready for bed. After brushing your teeth and doing all the things you do before turning in for the night, you press play in your bedroom to finish watching where you left off. It’s all here, and we can bring it to you today.
